Elizabeth can hear cases by way of arbitration for a wide variety of litigation disputes. She has had extensive experience sitting as a Vice-Chair at the License Appeal Tribunal which makes her an ideal candidate for many parties wanting their claims resolved by arbitration. She is also currently an arbitrator for the Builders Arbitration Forum.

The use of arbitration to settle disputes has become increasingly popular. Essentially, it is a private court in which the parties choose the judge. The parties can streamline the rules to be followed and thus accelerate the resolution of the dispute. The arbitral proceeding is not subject to the delays that can be caused by scheduling appearances in an ordinary trial before the courts. The parties may also limit the scope of any appeal from the decision of the arbitrator. As a result, arbitration can be fast, flexible, and effective in resolving disputes relatively quickly, particularly in disputes where the parties do not wish to wait out the long process of the ordinary courts to reach a decision.

The parties must agree to arbitration and they can do so at the time they enter a contract by including an arbitration clause. They can also agree to arbitration even after a dispute has arisen.
